MSS is proud to announce Gene Foley as a new member of its Advisory Board for 2025. Gene is the Founder and President of Focus Strategy Group (FSG), a management consulting firm dedicated to helping credit union CEOs enhance profitability, operational efficiency and long-term growth.

Gene’s career spans over 25 years as President and CEO of Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU), where he led the organization’s expansion from $90 million to more than $1.3 billion in assets. During his tenure, HUECU experienced sustained double-digit growth for 10 consecutive years. His leadership brought key innovations, including Harvard’s first financial literacy course, the launch of the Harvard Alumni affinity credit card and the development of one of the nation’s top credit union private student loan programs.

In addition to his extensive executive experience, Gene has played an influential role in industry advocacy and governance. He has testified before Congress on data security issues, contributed to the formation of the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) and held leadership positions with national organizations such as the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), Filene Research Institute and Payment Systems for Credit Unions (PSCU).

Gene’s contributions to the credit union industry have earned him numerous accolades, including the Desjardins Award for Adult Financial Literacy and induction into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders. He holds a BA from Boston University and an MBA from Babson College.
